Wilton Cake Pans
By Euphrates
Wilton Cake Pans In 1929 Dewey Wilton started his cake-decorating school. In the '50s he began selling cake decorating supplies through his mail-order business and in 1962, Wilton's supplies found their way to retail store shelves. Wilton is now THE name in cake decorating equipment, including their huge line of character cake pans, cookie cutters and toppers. Wilton even made replacement pans for Kenner's Easy Bake Oven.

For the fan of functional-collectibles, Wilton makes cake pans of characters from comic books, television and movies - including many Disney tie-ins. The pans are generally about a foot tall and a foot wide and feature a one-sided image of the character. They are sold in bags with a cardboard or paper insert.

While the pans are very popular for birthday parties, they have never quite caught on in a big way with collectors. This means you can get just about any pan in the list below for well under $10. In fact, Wilton's Decorating Yearbooks from the '70s and '80s, which contain cake decorating tips and ideas, frequently sell for more than the pans. Another bonus for the new collector! Now you can have your cake and have it look like a Teletubbie too!
